Online Student Life Program Assistant

Position Overview

Starting in early June through the end of July, the Online Student Life Program Assistant role will support Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies (SPCS) Student Life engagement for Summer Institutes, Stanford University Mathematics Camp (SUMaC) and Stanford Middle School Scholars Program. SPCS online summer programs are designed to give students an immersive educational experience, emphasizing interactive education and deep engagement. Alongside daily instruction, the Student Life program offers students an opportunity to expand their interests through life and academic skills workshops and guest speakers.

The Online Student Life Program Assistant position is an ideal opportunity for undergraduates, graduate students, or early professionals who enjoy working with pre-collegiate students (Grades 7-11) in an online learning setting.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Host social engagement events, including college and career panels.
    • Encourage students to participate in conversations and create a positive social atmosphere
    • Provide behavior management support, moderate chat and ensure the expectations of the student Code of Conduct is upheld. This includes, but is not limited to, disabling video conferencing  features if used inappropriately (e.g. chat tool, annotation tool)
    • Moderate student chat platform
  • Facilitate weekly group discussions
  • Prepare prompts to be shared each week in order to guide students through discussions centering around the main college theme
  • Assist guest speakers and hosts with the following:
    • Provide behavior management support, moderate chat and ensure the expectations of the student Code of Conduct is upheld. This includes, but is not limited to, disabling Zoom features if used inappropriately (e.g. chat tool, annotation tool)
    • Manage Zoom waiting room and admit participants into each section
    • Moderate questions for guest speakers and panelists
    • Upload materials and announcements to Canvas as needed
  • Provide support when needed for instructor-led office hours.

    • Upload materials and announcements to Canvas as needed
    • Monitor Slack channel
  • Must regularly check-in via Slack, attend weekly team meetings  and email with your primary supervisor.
  • Attend required live orientation will be held online during the week of June 9, 2025 (exact date & time TBD).
  • Other duties as assigned

To be successful in this position, you will bring:

  • Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university
  • Strong communication skills, ability to work independently and remotely

Additionally, you will preferably bring:

  • A computer and a reliable internet connection to effectively perform job responsibilities in this remote role
  • Experience with relevant technologies, i.e. video conferencing platforms such as Zoom and Canvas

Compensation

The compensation for the Online Student Life Program position is $23.24 per hour. Hourly pay is taxable income. This is a temporary, non-exempt, part-time, seasonal online position up to 19 hours per week from early June to late July.  Overtime is subject pursuant to state and federal wage and hour laws. You must be located within the United States for the duration of the assignment.
