Current Summer Program Status

March 25, 2020 Update

In agreement with the university's decisions about its summer programming, SPCS has come to the difficult decision that we cannot host students on campus for our residential programs this summer. Please know that we did not make this decision lightly, and we understand—and share in—the deep disappointment that this decision brings.

We are working to replace our residential programs with online programs that capture the essence of Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies. Please view more information about each individual program below.

Online Alternatives by Program

Stanford Pre-Collegiate Summer Institutes

We are very pleased to announce that we will be offering an online alternative to the Stanford Pre-Collegiate Summer Institutes this summer. In partnership with Stanford Online High School (OHS), a global leader in online education, we are designing a curriculum of online courses that will offer a rich and engaging summer experience. In the coming weeks, we will share more information as details of the online alternative are developed, including the session dates, course offerings, revised tuition cost, and other important information.
Stanford Summer Humanities Institute

We are actively exploring an online alternative to the Stanford Summer Humanities Institute that we hope to offer this summer. Through the online courses, participants would experience the unique academic features of the program, including instruction given by the distinguished Stanford Humanities professors who normally teach the residential program. We look forward to sharing the full program information with you soon. In the coming weeks, we will share more information as details of the online alternative are developed, including the session dates, course offerings, revised tuition cost, and other important information.
Stanford University Mathematics Camp (SUMaC)

SPCS and SUMaC remain committed to providing an outstanding mathematical enrichment experience for select students from our applicant pool. To this end, we are exploring an online alternative to SUMaC to be offered this summer. The goal is to retain the spirit of SUMaC in a rich and engaging summer experience. In the coming weeks, we will share more information as details of the online alternative to SUMaC are developed, including the program dates and schedule, revised tuition cost, and other important information.
Stanford AI4ALL

SPCS and AI4ALL remain committed to providing an enriching academic experience and provide pathways for young women to become leaders in the field of Artificial Intelligence. To this end, SPCS is partnering with the national non-profit AI4ALL to explore an online alternative to be offered this summer. The goal is to retain the spirit of Stanford AI4ALL in a rich and engaging summer experience. In the coming weeks, we will share more information as details of the online alternative to AI4ALL are developed, including the program dates and schedule, revised tuition cost, and other important information.
Stanford Medical Youth Science Program (SMYSP)

Over the coming weeks, the SMYSP staff will be meeting regularly to determine if components of the program can be offered in an online model. However, at this time, we cannot confirm the feasibility of providing an online offering.

Will special considerations be made to the refund policy due to the pandemic?

If a student must withdraw their enrollment due to impacts of the COVID-19 outbreak, they should notify our office by email as soon as possible. In the event that a student is unable to participate due to COVID-19, we will provide a full refund of the student's tuition and deposit. Please contact our office at precollegiate@stanford.edu and our staff will be happy to assist.
